Wizards, Witches and a sneak peek.......

I am back as promised with some pictures of recent projects for my Etsy shop and a little peek at what I have been working on for me. I just don't take the time to work on my own stuff anymore so I have taken the last week to try and finish the mystery project enough to share.

The lastest is a witchy table topped with lots of magical things ~

The table has a towering stack of aged papers that took me 3 days to make, I kept thinking it needed another pile of papers LOL. I made a bat book stand to hold the owl book, I will be offering the bat stands next week in my shop and some spooky books to sit on them ~

A Wizard Study cabinet I made this month ~

This was really fun, I had wanted to make this for a long time. It went to the home of a friend.

This is Wizard Study no. 2 ~ a little like the first, I used a different style of cupboard, the first was a vintage cupboard that is hard to find.

This cupboard had a lot of glitter, I really try to hold back with the glitter but sometimes nothing says magic like glitter.

The inside of the drawer and the removable book ~ This cupboard is sold, maybe I will do another soon :)

Now for a sneak peek at what I have been working on. Don't let the snake scare you, I have a snake story for you  in the near future. I will be back with another post soon and will give you another peek ~

Thank you for all the nice comments on my last post, I read all of my followers blogs and comment when I have time. I have a lot of trouble with comment verification on some of the blogs, after 3  tries I usually give up. I don't know why it is so hard to read the letters on those things LOL.

A Commission and Halloween News ~

Greetings friends ~

September is almost gone, fall is in the air. The mornings are cool and the leaves are changing at a fast pace. I am getting ready for my October blog giveaways and weekly posts. I have a new project to show and lots of miniatures to giveaway so stay tuned.

I would like to share a commission made in August. my customer wanted a potion cupboard to dress herself and hold her collection of potions. We decided a 1/6 scale would be perfect for her needs as it was to sit on a shelf. I scoured the net for the perfect cupboard and came up dry, I remembered a cupboard my daughter had given me about 5 years ago. It took out the drawer in the bottom and made a shelf, I was excited as my customer wanted a purple cupboard...I love purple as you know :) Enough chatter, here are the pictures.

1/6 scale purple cupboard ~ I love how it turned out.

The cupboard is made of plastic and was intended for Barbie ~ I have seen these referred to as Suzy Goose cupboards ~ Not a fan of plastic but this really turned out cool. You know I had a blast embellishing the cupboard with mostly vintage findings and the paint job...well I can get lost in paint :)

This is where the drawer was, I lined the drawer opening to make the shelf ~

A Wizard's Study ~

A Happy September to all!  A Big Welcome to new followers and Thank you to my long time followers for your kind comments and emails.

Fall is my favorite time of year. The cool evenings, chilly mornings and the foliage changing color.
 I would like to share my latest little cupboard. I bought this cupboard with the Wizard's study in mind, I thought it was perfect with the shelves, desk, drawer and bottom cupboard.

A Wizard's Study ~ 

This cupboard holds many little surprises, potions, papers, a desk, books, scrolls, and magic!

The study has a potion cabinet packed with potions, a crystal ball and unicorn horns ~

Cupboard can be displayed open or closed for when your Wizard is away ~

The pull down desk top holds an open dragon book, in the cubbyhole are papers, scrolls, a book and an inkwell ~

The top holds magical potions, a real crystal ball, a unicorn horn and vintage jewels ~

The bottom cupboard holds potions, scrolls, 3 removable books and a unicorn horn ~

A Wizards Study measures 6 1/8 inches tall, 3 3/4 inches wide and 1 14 inches deep ~ I will be listing it in my shop Dark Squirrel this afternoon ~

The Herbalist and some updates...

I hope everyone has had a great summer. I have been busy this summer and thought I had better make a blog post. I haven't got the wedding ready yet and don't see it happening until this fall or winter. Not having the wedding ready has kept me from blogging because I don't want to let my readers down, so there I have said it and hope you understand.
I have been busy with some miniatures which I would like to share, today I will show you The Herbalist a one inch scale cupboard I have wanted to do for a long time.

The Herbalist ~
This cupboard could be for a witch, wizard or a fairy ~ the colors are purple and copper. I started with a Bespaq sideboard I bought from another miniaturist who was destashing her horde. I cut a back and made shelves for the herbs. Every drawer is filled and the accoutrements on the top are not glued down so it can be arranged as you like.

I added a little vignette in the right cupboard compartment ~ 

I labeled the bottles with the names of uncommon herbs and added a few unlabeled bottles ~

I made two open books to go with the cupboard with pictures of herbs and flowers ~

The mushroom drawer ~

A pretty potion drawer, even the drawer pulls are pretty ~

A flower drawer ~

All the drawers, the big bottom drawer contains aged papers, scrolls, leaves and moss ~

The cupboard back is embellished with pretty flower filigree and vintage glass jewels with a touch of glitter ~

The top contents and left compartment accoutrements are loose so you may arrange them to your liking ~

I built custom drawer pulls and used beautiful vintage lily pad findings to open the cupboard doors ~

There is a knock at the door........

There is a knock at the door... Who could it be now? So many pass over the threshold of Vulture's Roost. Could it be the long awaited Count? Look at his Beautiful cape ~ 

He turns to the voice of his beloved ~ 

You came for me! Oh Count I am sorry I thought you wouldn't come.

My Dear Hattie, I have thought of nothing but you for the months we have been apart.

The happy couple reunited at last ~

The cast of Vulture's Roost are my first attempts at doll making, most make with clay that lay dormant for almost 10 years. They are not very good but I love each one and they will live forever at Vulture's Roost ~

I will be back in a few weeks with a new tale from Vulture's Roost. I am taking off for a week to go visit my parents and have some family time, when I return I should be healed up enough to start back full force on my miniatures ~

The Elegant Witch ~

Today I thought I would share pictures of the finished cupboard.  As you remember from this post,  the cupboard started life as a thimble display. I finally was able to finish doing a little each day. The cupboard is sold, I was able to find another display like this so in the future sometime I will do a simular cupboard.

On the top shelf see the green cat bottle? A very special friend surprised me with a package of green cat beads, Thank you Cathy!

I even added a small set of 7 Deadly Sins bottles to the bottom shelf along with a skull, scrolls and a jeweled candle display ~

The candles are a translucent violet color ~

I made use of many vintage stampings, glass jewels and even an owl potion bottle ~

On  Vulture's Roost news, I did receive news that the Count is headed home from his vacation in Tennessee  so he should be making and appearance soon.

Ara's package has arrived!!!

I won Ara's 300 Follower Giveaway and my package has arrived....Yippie!!!  I won this awesome chair made by Ara and also included was a picture (more about it next) and this scary skeleton. This Charles Addams picture was a surprise gift in my package, I LOVE it!!! This treasure will go in my vampire mansion as will the chair and probably the skeleton :)

I couldn't wait to try the chair in the mansion...should it go in this room? I am going to tone down the wallpaper in this room with a dark wash. Maybe we should ask the VonAmber's where the chair is to go...... Who are the VonAmber's you ask, well let me introduce you.

Meet August and Ember VonAmber the newlywed vampire couple who bought this mansion in need of so much work. I was waiting to introduce the VonAmbers until after the wedding but the chair is just so perfect for this house. I promise to tell you more of the VonAmber's story soon.
