Vulture's Roost Giveaway news and Bat Whispering ~

Having no luck with her bat calling spell, Hattie remembered there were bats at Simone's cabin ~ Hattie rushed over and snuck up to the loft bedroom ~ Now what are you doing Hattie? Oh I see bat whispering, good luck on that plan ~

Hattie has decided to cast a tiny spell on the Count....who knows if she has the right stuff, looks like a giant mess to me ~ plan B is to send out the bats after him but there are no bats at Vultures Roost ~ what a mess Hattie has made in the kitchen, Nigel is going to kill her when he sees it ~ Nigel won't let anyone else cook....bossy werewolves ~" I would like to cast a spell on him so his hair all falls out" Hattie mutters to herself ~ "I guess I will try to call some bats now, where is the spell book?"

The Count's bed has been made ready....will he ever sleep here? 

Aunt Agnes moved over to Simone's cabin to avoid all the drama ~ Simone placed her over her potion chest so she could help make potions even though Agnes hasn't uttered a word in 500 years ~ 

Back at Vulture's Roost we seem to be having a snake problem on the Vulture Terrace...oh crap Hattie you called snakes not bats!!!! " Who needs a recipe" famous last words ~

Snakes everywhere ~ Snakes alive.....what are we going to do? Looks like Nigel is going to have to cook up some more snakes ~

Vulture's Roost...the Celebration Continues ~

First today I would like to show a few pictures of the potion room in Vulture's Roost as requested by a follower ~ The room is far from done ~ I will have more time this Winter ~ My pictures are not too good today, it is cloudy ~ The potion room contains works by Nicky CC, Debie Lyons, Ericka VanHorn and myself ~

What is this? A pack of hounds hanging out in the front garden ~ No it is Dusty Pearl, Shadow and Wulf who is Nigel's black German Shepherd ~ The fall weather is lovely in the garden ~

Lucas keeps watch over Vulture's Roost, he sees all ~

Are those tears? Still no word from the Count ~ how could he do this to me?
No one could leave a beauty like this standing at the alter, could they?

Will the Count show? Should Hattie cast a spell? Where is the Count?
So many questions ~ What should Hattie do?

The story of Simone's cabin ~

Simone's cabin was originally built as a Christmas decoration out of small cedar logs in the early 60's. It was closed in on all sides with small windows and a tiny door. The cabin had Christmas lights inside. A good friend was cleaning out her Mother's house and out buildings when this was found. Knowing I had doll houses and liked small things she asked if I would like it, you know I said yes ~
I took the roof off and cleaned out the old lights and dirt, the floor was log so I ripped that out too. My sweet hubby sawed off the front so I could work on the inside, he found scrap wood for the floor and metal for the roof. I then chinked the logs with Das air dry clay, I tried paper clay first but didn't know at the time you needed to add glue to the walls to make it stick. So what to do with this log cabin? Back then in the days before Harry Potter and spooky minis I thought a hunting and fishing lodge would be good. So for years I tried to do the hunting lodge and was never happy with it. For one thing all my goofy camo wearing dolls who lived there just drank beer, played pool and told fish stories. The only good thing was the snake coming up out of the kitchen sink ~ The floors are covered in paper I printed out, at some point I may redo them as I don't really like them. I built the fire place and chimney with wood and covered it in egg carton stones, I do like it still so I guess I did that right. I have learned so many things over the years of crafting miniatures, my first doll house was put together with hot glue LOL. I don't know why I decided to move Simone into the cabin but I'm glad I did, it just seems right and I now love the cabin.

I will post some pictures of the outside of the cabin one of these days, there is a bear climbing out of the chimney too ~

Vulture's Roost Fall Celebrations...News, Giveaways and a Wedding ~

Greetings to new friends and old, sorry we have been away for so long ~
 We are back for our favorite month October ~
Fall has arrived and the leaves are changing ~ We have many giveaways planned for October  ~
Marie is hosting the first giveaway ~ a set of 5 white glow in the dark shabby style pumpkins ~

The wedding guests have already started to arrive ~ This is cousin Fanny just arrived from the UK. Marie has not seen Fanny in years ~ Fanny was created by Nicky CC ~

Here we are over at Big Simone's cabin. She is just about all moved in now  ~

Simone's cabin ~ she still has more decorating to do but with getting ready for the wedding it will have to wait ~

Simone's kitchen and potion nook ~ Simone is a modern witch and loves modern furniture, especially animal prints ~

We still have cobwebs but what witch doesn't ~ Beautiful rug by  Dales Dreams ~

Nigel, Hattie, Cousin Fanny, Cousin Carlanne, Shadow and Marie are making plans for the wedding which will be held in the front garden of Vulture's Roost ~
Hattie is worried that the Count might not show as she hasn't heard a word from him in over a month ~ She will keep silent for now and maybe work up a spell to bring him to her ~

Vulture's Roost... The Summer Cabin

When we were last here at Vulture's Roost there was another witch at the door...is she a good witch or a bad witch? Does this spell more trouble for poor Marie?

Cousin Carlanne was walking Shadow and could hear knocking so she went around front to see who it could be ~  Oh what a wonderful visitor, it is Big Simone Marie's Aunt ~ She brings her magical broom and her hound Dusty Pearl ~
Carlanne tells Simone that Marie and Hattie are getting ready to go look at the summer cabin where Hattie will have to stay until the Count comes to marry her ~
The summer cabin has been vacant for many years as Marie has had no need to get away ~ who knows what shape it will be in after setting neglected for so many years ~

Marie and Hattie step out to leave for the cabin and see Simone ~ Simone drops her broom and spreads her arms to to hug Marie ~ I am so glad to see you cries Marie ~
You see Big Simone has a reputation for getting things done and when she talks people listen or else... Marie says lets go on to the cabin, you sure don't want to go into the house just now. Nigel has been cooking snakes and has made a terrible stink . He is airing out the kitchen now ~

Well here we are at the cabin, Nigel has been over to sweep it out but has not had a chance to knock down the cobwebs yet ~ Hattie says she can't possibly stay in a shack like this, what will the Count think ~ Simone tells Hattie this will do fine as she will be staying too ~ Hattie says royalty don't stay in cabins can't you put me up at the Hilton? ~ 

Simone thinks the cabin is so nice she might like to buy it from Marie ~ Marie thinks that is an excellent idea as she could use the money for Vulture's Roost ~ Then it's settled says Simone, Hattie will be my guest until the wedding ~

Up in the loft is a pallet for Hattie to sleep on ~ We will knock down the cobwebs and beat the mattress, hope there are no mice in there ~

I am so happy Marie! I have a new home and we have a wedding to plan ~ Dusty Pearl is excited to explore her new home ~

Vulture's Roost... Hattie's Arrival and Cookin Snakes

Nigel finally rounds up all the snakes and goes out to see what all the racket at the front door is about ~  Hattie tells Nigel she has been out here for ages and that is no way to treat a future Countess ~

Hattie goes back to humming I'm so pretty, I'm so pretty ~ Nigel gets over the shock of Hattie's...beauty and invites her into the parlor ~ Nigel hollers up to Marie and Carlanne " We have a guest" ~

Hattie steps in and looks over the old mansion and wrinkles her nose in disgust ~ What a dump but it will have to do for a few days ~

When everyone is present in the parlor Hattie announces she will just be staying until the Count comes  to fetch her for their wedding ~ I will be a Countess  and live in a castle with servants and not have to look at common people like you. Hattie turns to Nigel and tells him to get those ugly snakes out of here ~ Looks like we have a room full of ugly snakes to me ~ Marie says she must go see about beds for the everyone ~ Where is she going to put them all?

Carlanne and Hattie are finally alone in the parlor ~ Shadow growls low in his throat at Hattie ~ Hattie tells Carlanne  she looks hideous and could really use a makeover ~  

Nigel decides he had better cook the snakes to feed this growing crowd only one snake isn't getting cooked, Nigel can hear her in the parlor telling Carlanne how beautiful she is ~ Hope I can remember how to make Stewed Snakes ~

Marie was trying to figure out beds for all when Hattie marched in and laid on Marie's bed  ~ This is where I sleep and I am not sharing my room, I need my beauty sleepy  and privacy~ Marie has had just about enough of this and is going to give Hattie a stern talking to .... there is someone pounding on the door ~ Who is at the door now Marie thinks with a sinking feeling ~ Could there really be a Count who wanted to marry Hattie? More than likely she is broke and in trouble ~

Vulture's Roost...Visitors

When we last met Marie was awaiting Cousin Carlanne's visit ~ Marie is relaxing in the parlor waiting for Carlanne's arrival ~ She arrived on the 3 o'clock train so it won't be long now ~

Nigel is busy cleaning the dragon room and thinking about the disaster up in the attic bedroom ~ I guess I will head up there soon before the snakes come down here and bother the baby dragons ~

The bedroom is crawling with big snakes who are after the rats ~ Aunt Agnes watches silently from her frame ~ Aunt Agnes is the worlds oldest living witch, all that is left of her is her head ~ she hasn't spoken a word in hundreds of years, she just silently watches over Vulture's Roost ~

There is someone at the door ~ a small witch and her beautiful hound ~

Marie welcomes Cousin Carlanne and her trusty hound Shadow ~ Carlanne is a very good witch who always travels with her Book of Shadows ~

Marie and Carlanne relax and catch up on all the news in the cool darkness of the Vulture Terrace ~  They enjoy a cup of tea and delicious cookies that neighbor Tabitha has sent over ~ They hear pounding from below, what could cause such a disturbance ~ the sound is worst than nails on a chalkboard, a feeling of doom and darkness can be felt in the air ~

Who is pounding on the door, could it be Avon calling?

She is singing "I'm so pretty, I'm so pretty" and about to pound the door off the hinges ~

Lucas and Theodore look down with dread at the witch who is pounding and singing at the door   ~

I have based my characters of Vulture's Roost on real people , some living and some dead. People who have made an impression on me with their kindness, generosity and friendship ~ Shadow, Carlanne's hound is a prized possession of mine. He belonged to an old man who received a pair of dogs, one white and one black as a gift in 1934. He wrote on the belly of the white dog the year and his name, I bought a number of his possessions at an estate sale in 1989  ~
