There is a knock at the door........

There is a knock at the door... Who could it be now? So many pass over the threshold of Vulture's Roost. Could it be the long awaited Count? Look at his Beautiful cape ~

He turns to the voice of his beloved ~

You came for me! Oh Count I am sorry I thought you wouldn't come.

My Dear Hattie, I have thought of nothing but you for the months we have been apart.

The happy couple reunited at last ~

Thank you to Linda Wooten for dressing The Count. Linda makes the most Beautiful draperies for doll houses and as you can see is the most excellent seamstress. You can find Linda here and on FaceBook here. Thank you so much Linda!

The cast of Vulture's Roost are my first attempts at doll making, most make with clay that lay dormant for almost 10 years. They are not very good but I love each one and they will live forever at Vulture's Roost ~

I will be back in a few weeks with a new tale from Vulture's Roost. I am taking off for a week to go visit my parents and have some family time, when I return I should be healed up enough to start back full force on my miniatures ~

Hugs,
Victoria

The Elegant Witch ~

Today I thought I would share pictures of the finished cupboard.  As you remember from this post,  the cupboard started life as a thimble display. I finally was able to finish doing a little each day. The cupboard is sold, I was able to find another display like this so in the future sometime I will do a simular cupboard.
On the top shelf see the green cat bottle? A very special friend surprised me with a package of green cat beads, Thank you Cathy!

I even added a small set of 7 Deadly Sins bottles to the bottom shelf along with a skull, scrolls and a jeweled candle display ~

The candles are a translucent violet color ~

I made use of many vintage stampings, glass jewels and even an owl potion bottle ~

On  Vulture's Roost news, I did receive news that the Count is headed home from his vacation in Tennessee  so he should be making and appearance soon.

Everyone have a Great Weekend,
Victoria

Ara's package has arrived!!!

I won Ara's 300 Follower Giveaway and my package has arrived....Yippie!!!  I won this awesome chair made by Ara and also included was a picture (more about it next) and this scary skeleton. I love it all Ara! Thank you so much. Please visit Ara's Addam's Family Mini Mansion blog and BentleyHouseProductions, Ara's etsy shop.

This Charles Addams picture was a surprise gift in my package, I LOVE it!!! This treasure will go in my vampire mansion as will the chair and probably the skeleton :)

I couldn't wait to try the chair in the mansion...should it go in this room? I am going to tone down the wallpaper in this room with a dark wash. Maybe we should ask the VonAmber's where the chair is to go...... Who are the VonAmber's you ask, well let me introduce you.

Meet August and Ember VonAmber the newlywed vampire couple who bought this mansion in need of so much work. I was waiting to introduce the VonAmbers until after the wedding but the chair is just so perfect for this house. I promise to tell you more of the VonAmber's story soon.

Thank you so much Ara! What a lovely day this has been.

My First Dollhouse...a trip down memory lane.

Not being able to do much the last 3 weeks got me thinking about my first dollhouse, I remembered seeing a picture of it but didn't know if I had the picture, I did :) This is 1959 on my fourth birthday. I remember the metal house full of plastic furniture, it was mostly blue and cream colored. I don't think I had any dolls that fit in the house. I do wish I had pictures of the inside but can't find any.

When looking for pictures I also found this one, I think this is Christmas 1958 at my Grandmother's house.  I had to laugh when I saw this....the unicorn that started it all :)

That's all for today. Don't forget to enter my giveaway on this 300 Follower Giveaway post.

I will be back tomorrow or maybe tonight with a picture of the books and other goodies that will be drawn for in the giveaway.

Victoria

Thank you Ewa!

Yesterday morning my mail carrier called and told me she had a package for me to sign for and could I meet her at the gate. It was a package from  Ewa in Poland! ( Happy Dance) I was the winner of Ewa's blog giveaway at The Sunny Hours :) I just love stamps from far off countries ;)

In side the package were two boxes. This beautiful drying rack was in the first, excuse my poor pictures. On this amazing drying rack hangs a pair of socks and delicate undies :) The craftsmanship of this rack is amazing! I can't wait to put this in one of my houses.

The second box was a treasure in itself.....inside were many beautiful gifts :)

Beautiful purses made by Ewa, one for each of my witches :)

Next was this gorgeous stone treasure, inside held a secret......
Inside was a tiny silver basket, it will have to hold something very precious....maybe a dragon's egg :)

I love the little cage with the flowers! I can't wait to put some tiny dragons in it or maybe an exotic plant.

Thank you so much Ewa for drawing my name in your giveaway. I will treasure my beautiful prizes :)

Hugs,
Victoria

Boil, Boil Toile and Trouble

 New cauldrons ~

I'm back again :) Can you tell I am trying to stay busy while my wrist heals? I had just finished baking these cauldrons the night before my little accident. I have finally managed to get them filled and photographed. You will notice one even has a grumpy face...a big breakthrough LOL... Now for a little teaser.
There is a knock on the door at Vulture's Roost.... is his shirt torn ? What could this beast want?
Ugh.... this guy looks mad. Is he here to have a word with Nigel, looks to be the same species or maybe he is from Hattie's past ~ stay tuned....
Since it is spring I thought I would show off some bird houses from Vulture's Roost. This little  house  was made by Katie of Katie's Clay Corner on Etsy. Katie makes the cutest miniatures ~
This beauty is by Julie at Celtic JuJu on Etsy. Julie was kind enough to take some of my work to the 3 Blind Mice show in Chicago in April. Thank you Julie!

Well that's it for today. I will be back soon with a tale from Vulture's Roost and a look at some things I am working on.

Don't forget to sigh up for my giveaway Dark Squirrel 300 Follower Giveaway on this post ~

Thank you Followers!

Wow! I can't say Thank you enough to all of you who follow my blog and have commented. As you know with a broken wrist i can't do much and it is driving me crazy so I thought I would share some projects I have started and a WIP cupboard I had started before my accident. I will start with the cupboard today and share my projects in the following days.
This is what I started with, it is a vintage thimble display. I added a back and a shelf to make it  taller ~  I  was able to find two of these displays so I am a happy camper :)
I still have so much to make for this so I mostly stare at it and plan what to make when I can ~

I haven't got too far on this as you can see, lucky for me I had some bottles started and had made the candles  ~ I have been able to glue a few things so far ~

I have decided to call this The Elegant Witch ~ It will be filled with glass potions and just a few bead bottles ~

Well that is where I stand on this project, I do have some cauldrons I made before my accident that just need to be filled so I will be working on them as I think I can do that ~

I am offering a discount code for my Etsy shop Dark Squirrel's Shop ~ the code is DSBLOG for 20% off all orders, even international. You will need to add the code at checkout in the coupon code box . The code is good until June 1 2012 ~

That is all for today ~ If you are on FaceBook you can follow my Miniature Asylum with the badge at the right. I always post new additions to my shop, news and coupon codes there.

Hugs,
Victoria

New Cupboards and a Giveaway ~

I have been gone from blogland for ages, I hope you will forgive me for not keeping my blog current. First I would like to show my latest cupbords and then tell you about my giveaway ~
This is called Secret Dragon. I really love this cupboard,  it has sold but just wanted to share a picture ~

This beauty is called Clairvoyant's Dresser ~ Done in my favorite purples and greens, I used a lot of vintage jewels and findings on this dresser. There is even a real crystal ball on one of the shelves. The crystals and fire polished beads really catch the light, the pictures just don't do her justice ~

A drawer full of papers, scrolls and a spooky eye book ~

You can see the crystal ball under the vintage glass eye ~ Clairvoyant's Dresser is for sale in my shop Dark Squirrel Miniatures ~ Ugh you can see me in the mirror ~

This is the Snake Charmer ~ she is dressed with an assortment of potion bottles, vintage jewels, snake stampings, candles and several little surprises ~ I finished off the edges with vintage gold braid that has been tarnished ~

The toppings ~ the bottle with the snake is topped with a real crystal ball ~ Snake Charmer is for sale in my shop Dark Squirrel Miniatures ~

Other news I would like to say things have been at a standstill here on minis as I broke my wrist last week, I can hold my camera now so I can at least take pictures.

Vulture's Roost news : The Count is on his way to Wootens Miniatures to be dressed, when he returns we will meet him. Hattie is still staring at herself in the mirror as I write this.

Now for the Giveaway news.....to celebrate 300 followers I am going to have a drawing for 2 books and a few surprises. I will post pictures of the books closer to the drawing. The drawing will be on Friday June first.
To enter my drawing you must be a follower of this blog, you are welcome to share this on your blog or FaceBook but not required. Just leave a comment on this post to be entered ~

Thank you for reading my blog and your kind comments ~

Return to Vulture's Roost... Planning a Wedding ~

I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and say Welcome to new followers ~

It has been so long let me catch you up on our story ~
We are getting ready for the wedding of Hattie and the Count ~ We have been waiting for the Count to arrive for  months, Hattie is secretly very worried that he has disappeared ~
Hattie has tried to cast a spell to bring him but it just brought bats ~  Hattie has not heard a word from him in two months and is trying to keep a brave face about the whole matter ~ Marie and Carlanne are trying to help with the wedding plans so Hattie will leave and life can get back to normal ~ So we are planning a wedding.
Marie has called a wedding planner... meet Katrina the wedding planner ~

Hattie, Carlanne and Marie meet with Katrina. Hattie likes this, Katrina has Champagne. Katrina tells them she will handle the whole affair. They decide on the food, invitations and guest list. All Hattie has to do is pick her dress, Hattie tells everyone she will be the most beautiful bride in history and she is sure The New York Times will run a front page story on the nuptials ~
Marie and Carlanne drop off Hattie at Simone's when they are done, a little Hattie goes a long way ~

Back at Simone's Hattie goes up to the loft and gazes at her reflection in the mirror ~ The little story that follows was written by my friend Maria ~
Once upon a time, not so very long ago, a beautiful witchling was born.  As was tradition, her 6 fairy witch mothers were given the duty of naming the babe.  With that said, you are the first to hear our bride-to-be’s full spell-given name.  Haggaleana Amphibiana Tactlessa Tattoomama Indelabella Esmeralda.  She is known as Hattie for short.
As the formative years passed, young Hattie became an indescribable witch herself. Most often she gazed into the mirror for hours admiring the image that lovingly stared back.  She was actually the first to coin the phrase, “Mirror, mirror on the wall… who’s the fairest of them all?”
To Hattie’s joy, her Warlock father arranged Nuptials between his daughter and a visiting Count.  After blowing her betrothed a quick kiss, Hattie raced off to begin planning her trousseau.  The Count returned to his own home to announce the news to his family.
I hope you enjoyed that as much as I did ~ Thank you so much Maria!

Simone and Nigel can hear Hattie in the loft talking to herself ~ " I hope the Count arrives soon, I can't take much more of Hattie" Simone tells Nigel ~

As promised here are some pictures of the outside of Simone's cabin ~

This is the chimney that took weeks to build. It is a wood  box that I built covered with egg carton stones. I grouted and painted the "stones".

This is the bear climbing out the chimney ~ this being a hunting lodge in it's former life the bear was fitting ~ I think I am going to leave him ~

Back at Vulture's Roost on the Vulture Terrace we seem to have a trouble brewing............

I thought I would end today's post with a picture of a WIP. This is a potion cupboard I am making for myself ~ I found the cupboard at a yard sale for 1.00 last summer. It is bigger than one inch scale, I have made a few things for it and will add more as time allows. I even put Annie's baby teeth in a little jar and made a label for it, what else do you do with puppy teeth?

I will be back soon with another tale of Vulture's Roost ~

Until then.....

None of the people in this story are real ~
People are never real except after midnight ~

Victoria ~
