Drawing for Owls and Dragons and a little history lesson.

This week I am having a drawing for Owls and Dragons, this will conclude the drawings until Halloween when we will draw for one of Kat's hat blanks decorated by me. All the names from this months drawings will be added to the drawing so if you have entered every drawing you have 5 chances to win.

I got a few comments on this strange visitor at the door so I thought I would explain his costume or clothing . This costume is a replica of a Plaque Doctors outfit actually worn by Doctors in the seventeenth and eighteenth century. The costume was made by a UK artist who uses the name KC. I have provided a little history from Wikipedia below.

A plague doctor  was a special medical physician who saw those who had the bubonic plague. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, some doctors wore a beak-like mask which was filled with aromatic items. The masks were designed to protect them from putrid air, which (according to the miasmatic theory of disease) was seen as the cause of infection. The protective suit consisted of a heavy fabric overcoat that was waxed. A wooden cane pointer was used to help examine the patient without touching.
