I agree with Daydreamer about a Gothic theme, you could really go to town with that, maybe have a mannequin with a pretty black lace dress on it. I love the black and white room with the cosy glowing fire. I like your background wallpaper.Pollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10502031456581056874noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3859919054265465082.post-30288296247238303092016-05-01T17:36:10.827-07:002016-05-01T17:36:10.827-07:00I love the house and I think hattie and her family...I love the house and I think hattie and her family will enjoy it. for the stairs I say take them out. I don't know.
And I do like the idea of red room (it would be like Hattie's expression of love to count in my mind), but I would use some other wallpaper and do something for the floor... A bit more "manly" kind - count's own "man cave" *lol*
I wouldn't use the stair cause they take so much room - I would ditch them and use them somewhere else - I got a vision of box like additional building detached beside the house, sort like a little boutique for all the things Hattie could sell in, after she has made them in her workroom (=sewing room)... And IF it would be box like - then there would be easy to make a little garden on the roof of it (it would be the "green room" the house hasn't go yet *grin*) and use maybe some of those stairs in it... So Hattie could sell both potions and herbs etc. and her sewing work in there...
Or is she to 'royal' for that already..?? ;)
Can't wait to see what's next...
Hugs, IrinaNarinaNäpertäähttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16465585071449115816noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3859919054265465082.post-56616102796957652732016-05-01T07:26:34.951-07:002016-05-01T07:26:34.951-07:00Hello Victoria,

It is just implied that the residents get upstairs somehow. Since you are limited on space, I think the stairs take up a lot of room. I think the Count will be happy if Hattie is happy. After all, he can always fly off into the night each evening and probably sleeps most of the day anyway. You have such magical decorating abilities, I am sure you are going to make this newest decor work. It will be fun to watch. I would never have guessed she's a Shabby Chic lover... *LOL* Looks like Maggie made a very good offer to her, well, my magical bearies and I would not hesitate to take this house, but we're talking about Hattie here. And no doubt, if she likes this house the count will to... first because she will tell him so and second because the red room will be his cup of blood tea for sure. About the stairs - I've read Betsy's comment, she's such a good advisor. Personally I like to take advantage of the fact that I'm building fantasy houses... whoever being able to ride on a broom, cast a spell and cuddle with a dragon doesn't need stairs in his home... This is quite a comfortable attitude - at least for me. *LOL* I can't wait to read the next episode!

Hugs
BirgitBiWuBärhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16624262663621307478noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3859919054265465082.post-82005976158081260982016-04-29T21:58:37.066-07:002016-04-29T21:58:37.066-07:00Thank you Betsy! Thank you for the door to the stairwell idea, I think I might go with it.
One thing I don't want in this house is and spiderweb or bat fabric, no Halloween looking stuff, that is in Vulture's Roost and I know I wold get tired of it.
Before I decided to come back to blog land I started the remodel in shabby, I have had modern, Victorian and rustic houses. I just don't have the room for anymore doll houses and want to use mostly things I already have that I can bash and redo.
I don't know if the Count has any say so or not, Hattie hasn't told me, I think she will let him know if he does lol.
I still have a surprise or two coming about the house so stay tuned.Dark Squirrel Victoriahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13522746644842919109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3859919054265465082.post-64228145287069822462016-04-29T17:13:00.930-07:002016-04-29T17:13:00.930-07:00Hi Victoria! What a Tour! I LOVE the fireplaces!!!...Hi Victoria! What a Tour! I LOVE the fireplaces!!! They really set the "tone" of the rooms! Perhaps there needs to be a new category of "Shabby chic" which is really "Gothic Shabby chic"? LOL! It would require lots of black and white and spidery motifs strewn across the dusty white shabby lacy covered furnishings...! I think the kitchen looks wonderful... very homey and old fashioned... and has enough "green" in it that Hattie should feel "at home" ! And I LOVE the chairs!!! As for the Red room... I have to wonder if the Count gets any special territory in this house? Does the Red Room make him "Excited"? Lol! Please excuse me, Hattie, I don't want to offend any sensibilities... but there should probably be some considerations for his "needs"....! And as far as the stairs go... I am a stairs are necessary type... but one can make them "enclosed" which adds to the wall space for furniture... and perhaps makes them spookier too... narrow dark and twisty with doors at the top and bottom! (Just to make things interesting!) As far as Shabby chic goes for Witches... I would think there needs to be a fair amount of black lace and Gustavian gray painted furnishings.... all well worn and shabby, of course... with stars and bats and spider webs galore.... (Well, you did ask! LOL!)
Thank you for the opportunity to "help" with the decorating! I think this new Manor looks fantastic already! And it's Great to have you back!!! :)Daydreamerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06170115485686244907noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3859919054265465082.post-22091670960889004842016-04-29T14:59:42.699-07:002016-04-29T14:59:42.699-07:00Thank you De!
